My primary objectives include fostering secure neighborhoods, attracting new employment opportunities for the middle class, tackling the significant issue of homelessness, and safeguarding our natural landscapes and ecosystems.Β

Dangerous heat is expected, with daytime temperatures reaching around 90Β°F near the coast and up to 105Β°F in inland valleys. Warm overnight temperatures may provide little relief and increase the risk of heat-related illness.
Please take precautions:
β’ Stay hydrated and limit strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest parts of the day.
β’ Never leave children or pets unattended in vehicles.
β’ Check on older adults, neighbors, and others who may be especially vulnerable to extreme heat.
β’ Know the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Preparing Today for the Season Ahead. Thank you to everyone who joined us today at Leisure Village for an important community briefing on Arundo removal, El NiΓ±o and winter storm preparedness, Zone 0, and wildfire preparedness. A special thank you to Leisure Village HOA President Tom Frutchey and General Manager Christi Moore for hosting us, and to our experts from the Ventura County Resource Conservation District, Ventura County Public Works Agency, and Ventura County Fire Department for sharing their expertise and answering residentsβ questions. I also shared an update on the funding secured through the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy for the Leisure Village Wildfire Resilience and Floodplain Restoration Initiative, supporting removal of approximately invasive Arundo adjacent to the community. With the potential for significant winter storms, now is the time to prepare. Residents can sign up for VC Alert, review flood and winter weather information, build an emergency kit, and make a family emergency plan through Ready Ventura County. The County is also preparing debris basins, storm drains, channels and roads for potential winter impacts. Be informed. Make a plan. Be prepared.

Ventura County Supervisors Vote to Pursue Statewide Legislation Promoting Dangerous Dog Transfers to Rescues, and Reducing Animal Euthanasia
βNo one wants to euthanize an animal when there is a responsible and lawful opportunity to save its life,β said Supervisor Jeff Gorell, Chair of the Ventura County Board of Supervisors. βTodayβs action gives us an opportunity to pursue a better pathβone that saves the lives of animals, protects the public, supports responsible rescue efforts and protects taxpayers from indefinite liability. If an agency follows the law, fully discloses an animalβs history, and a qualified rescue knowingly accepts custody and responsibility, there should be a clear point when that responsibility transfers. Ventura County Animal Services shelters are experiencing significant crowding after 286 stray animals arrived in September alone.
To help make room, adoption fees are currently WAIVED for all pets at both shelter locations.
